Settlement Services helps newcomers transition to life in Canada. The initial couple of years in a new country can be overwhelming. We can provide the support and cultural understanding to make it easier for the newcomer to access information and services. The Newcomer Settlement Program assists newcomers who are settling, adjusting and contributing to life in Canada and Durham Region. This program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCS). Thompson Newcomer Settlement Services provides orientations and information to help familiarize newcomers with Canadian life and culture. The variety of topics covered include: Housing, Laws, Banking, Transportation, Weather, shopping, Health, and Education.

Newcomer Women’s Services (or NEW for short) empowers newcomer women and their families in these three key areas.
